JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This position will promote and maintain operational excellence as it relates to service department operations in the division, including, efficient and cost effective repairs to Sunbelt equipment, assisting field technicians in repair, and troubleshooting of existing fleet. The Power & HVAC Divisional Service Manager will be empowered to reduce the Unavailable fleet in the most cost effective means available. This will include all product lines in the Power & HVAC Division.
Assist field personnel with repair of Unavailable fleet
diesel generators and generator controllers
air cooled chillers
diesel air compressors
Work with Regional Service Managers to make sure each branch has the correct computer and communication cables to connect to all fleet
Work with OVP, RM and FM to assess current operational efficiencies with the Region’s Service Departments and identify areas of opportunity for improvement
Strategic leadership and direction of service operations and fleet acquisition
Responsible for proactive recruitment and development of technician workforce
Assist RM and PCM’s with Service Manager hiring decisions
Shop Management Basics – train new service managers/sf in basic service department operations
Training path development and technician level identification for all technicians
Develop/Implement operational and exception reporting designed at informing operational management of Product Support issues and areas requiring attention.
Assist the Fleet Group in the service/safety bulletin program including prompt notification, continual monitoring, and follow-up correspondence with manufacturers.
Assist Fleet Group in identifying manufacturers who are not able to meet established quality standards.
Assists Product Managers in resolving quality, safety, and claim disputes with vendors. Maintain a communication program to communicate and record product issues throughout organization and product vendors.
Part & Inventory management-setting and managing targeted parts inventories in conjunction with PC’s and overall division goals
Education & Experience:
Process design and organizational skills. Ability to create and develop new processes to make the Operations Support function of the company more efficient and effective.
Excellent communication skills.
Responsible for interacting with Sunbelt executive, regional, district, profit center and training personnel.
Responsible for interacting with outside vendor (technical, service, and sales) personnel
Good analytical ability to gather and interpret technical information and to develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to make good decisions and manage several processes in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding and working knowledge of rental fleet application, performance capabilities, and mechanical concepts.
Knowledge of PC programs including Excel, Word, Access, Visio, etc.
