Air Conditioning Mechanic
Employee will be assigned to the Maintenance and Operations Section of Engineering Service, VA Medical Center, Marion, IL, serving as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Inspects, tests, and repairs a wide variety of air conditioning systems; starts, stops, and visually inspects major air handler units, chillers, and circulating pumps; and performs vibration.
Performs quality assurance follow-up inspections, major repair and overhauls to ensure excellence in workmanship; performs annual maintenance on air handler units and all appurtenances; and cleans, adjusts, services and performs filter changes to keep air handling units in first class operating condition.
Performs initial inspection and/or follow up inspections to ensure compliance to contractors and/or that completion of work requested by VA Engineering personnel conforms to published technical manufacturers specifications.
Responds to and resolves emergency situations resulting from, but not limited to, equipment failure, fires, weather, chemical spills, elevator malfunctions, utility interruptions and imminent hazards to staff, patients or government property; ensures that all tools and equipment are properly functioning and are safe for use; and performs other related duties as assigned.
