HNTB is Seeking a Mechanical project engineer in our Bellevue, WA office with experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Life Safety (FLS) and fire protection engineering. The qualified candidate shall have experience in Mechanical, FLS, and Fire Protection Engineering for transportation tunnels, railway stations and other transportation related facilities. Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also, accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts Responsible for gross revenue of <$1M.

Supervises and mentors team. - Collaborating with engineers, modelers and consultants on innovative tunnel and infrastructure projects - Managing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and interpreting and communicating results - Contributing to ventilation and fire protection/mitigation studies - Work as part of a creative and specialized team to develop fire protection, ventilation, and HVAC solutions - Interfacing with clients, approval authorities, and consultants on fire-life safety designs and proposals. - Developing written reports, research papers, and PowerPoint presentations
Basic Qualification Bachelor's degree in Engineering 6 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualification/Skills- Master's degree in Engineering - PE/AICP - Interest and experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) - Fundamental knowledge of fluid mechanics and dynamics - Exceptional communication and organizational skills - Good time management, ability to multi-task, and capacity to sustain focus on long tasks. - Professional Engineering (PE) Registration (or ability to obtain) - Proven ability to work with intermittent supervision - Experienced use of Microsoft Excel
General Work Conditions Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client\u2019s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
