The Maintenance Mechanic
Controls Technician will perform duties necessary to maintain all
equipment in proper working order by performing the following duties.
Salary Range: $2,565- $2850 per month
High School diploma and
or comparable vocational diploma or certificate; High School diploma and apprentice experience.
Two to five years experience with
and building equipment.
Two plus years experience with
Current valid North Carolina drivers license.
Training or Certificate for
Knowledge of computer operated controls.
Schneider Electric controls experience.
Tridium, Workplace Tech and Workbench experience.

! Facilitate the Building Management System (
controls and Indoor Air Quality (
). Write, debug, code, analyze and enhance
to balance energy management with comfort control. Monitor and adjust computer based
program for proper
comfort and energy management control.
! Troubleshoot and repair
and refrigeration equipment to include: rotary screw and reciprocating chillers up to 200 ton; direct expansion split systems; large gas fired boilers; commercial refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, freezers and ice makers; and other appliances and equipment as needed.
! Assist in preliminary design plans and specification for remodels, upgrades or new construction. Assist with designated sequence of operations as outlined by lead team members.
! Assist with installation of equipment in remodels, upgrades or new construction.
! Work with faculty, staff, and students to resolve
! Become familiar with and participate in the refrigerant recovery program and the preventive maintenance program.
! Install power supply wiring, control wiring, communication wiring and conduit for newly installed equipment.
! Operate, troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.
! Diagnose malfunctioning equipment such as transformers, motors, compressors, variable speed drives, gas burners,
boxes, air handlers, and repair as needed.
! Operate a forklift when necessary, with training.
! Be on call for emergency issues.
! Assist with snow removal.
! Complete other duties as assigned.
