HVAC MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (.9) CHI Health Mercy','Full-time','Maintenance/Facilities','7AM-3:30PM','7AM-3:30PM','80','80','Occasional','Occasional','IOWA-COUNCIL BLUFFS-MERCY CB','','The incumbent reports directly to the Operations Director, Facility Support Services/Engineering. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operational issues relating to the repair, calibration, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration and other equipment and systems. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Performs repairs on all types HVAC system equipment and controls. 2. Develops and monitors the effectiveness and perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems and controls. 3. Performs repairs on refrigeration equipment in accordance with EPA regulations. 4. Performs, develops and monitors the effectiveness of preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment. 5. Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on other equipment and systems such as Medical Gas and Vacuum systems, fire detection and alarm systems, Energy Plant equipment and systems, and other facilities equipment and systems. 6. Locates and purchases repair parts, maintain inventory consistent with budget and priority of equipment maintained consistent with the appropriate management approvals and policies. 7. Completes special projects such as installation, relocation or removal of equipment.','!*!Experience A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment and systems is preferred.
Education/Licensure Associate Degree in Applied Science in Heating and Refrigeration, Class I & II EPA Refrigerants, EPA Universal Refrigerants License is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to properly troubleshoot electrical control circuits, Automation system repair knowledge preferred, must be able to effectively work with pneumatic controlled equipment.
Working Conditions Diverse environments including normal building and shop work places, patient care, patient treatment and diagnostic areas, outdoor, rooftop and Energy Plant environments. Potential exposure to extreme outdoor and indoor temperatures, hazardous chemicals, and biological materials. Routine periods of sitting, standing, and walking are required as well as climbing and working on ladders. Requires constant concentration of a very large volume of work which must be completed in a limited amount of time. Position is designed such that the feeling of mental pressure exists.
