The Facility Operations Division of the Finance and Administrative Services (FAS) Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill a vacant HVAC Technician position. This position reports to the Facilities Technical Supervisor and will operate, maintain, and install heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning equipment in facilities under the management of FAS. The Facility Operations Division operates and maintains approximately 3 million square feet of City-owned facilities and provides support, maintenance and repair of building systems for the City departments and other users that occupy space in buildings under its jurisdiction. Job Responsibilities u2022 Operate and maintain equipment listed but not limited to: heat pumps, coolers, refrigeration units, air handlers, VAV systems, exhaust systems, condensers, evaporators, coils, strip heaters, boilers, thermostats, VFDs, and hot water systems as requested by the Supervisor and the shop maintenance work order system. u2022 Assist with troubleshooting and repairing DDC and pneumatic controls u2022 Maintain documentation of service performed and materials used in the shop work order management system u2022 Uses computerized controls u2022 May perform other FAS maintenance support tasks such as: Respond to facilities related e-mail. Coordinate with other City departments. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. May be required to work some overtime work. Maintain cleanliness and safety of mechanical spaces. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: u2022 Two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVACR systems or two years of technical school HVACR coursework (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). License, Certification, and Other Requirements: u2022 Within 90 days of appointment: City of Seattle Grade III Steam Engineer's license; City of Seattle Refrigeration Mechanic's License class A; EPA CFC Universal Certificate Washington State Electrician Specialty License. u2022 Current Washington State driver's license or be able to obtain one by the start date. Desired Qualifications: u2022 Knowledgeable in the proper use of all tools, equipment, materials, and codes. u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills. u2022 Organizational and time management skills are essential. u2022 Ability to work in an environment with multiple projects and priorities. u2022 Initiative and independent judgment within defined procedures and practices is required. u2022 Positive customer service orientation with both internal and external clients.
