Profile

DUTIES: Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to deliver new products by assuring customer and business needs are satisfied. Key responsibilities include authoring product definition documentation, supporting engineering design activities, testing and commercializing new products for internal and external customers. Focus of this position is Tracer BAS controls products, systems, and software. Serve as subject matter expert, primary decision maker, and owner of a controls project through the full development life cycle. Advocate customer and business needs throughout each phase and resolve technical, schedule, resource, and business constraints. Compile and analyze customer and business needs with Product resource, and business constraints. Compile and analyze customer and business needs with Product Management teams based on market research, competitive analysis, business strategies, and product roadmaps. Conduct voice of customer activities to identify customer, user, and business needs based on stakeholder interviews, focus groups, day in the life studies, and advisory panels. Author product requirements and develop common understanding with product development and validation teams. Assist in authoring and reviewing definition documentation including System Requirements Documents, Component Functional Documents, Use Cases, User Interface Design Documents, and Test Plans. Apply user-centered design methods to establish ease of use in product designs. Collaborate with User Experience Architects to develop user scenarios, user stories, personas, task flows, performance measurements, and usability tests. Collaborate with on-site and off-site engineering teams on concepts and feasibility for product designs. Support product acceptance testing to assure product requirements and use cases are satisfied. Manage field trial testing to assure product operates successfully in varied systems and real building environment. Support development of training modules, webinars, technical update tours, and user literature. Support internal customers (Product Support, Literature, Training, Product Communications, and Marketing) on one or more controls products. Present value propositions, feature/benefit overviews of products and systems for customer visits. Elicit voice of customer from various stakeholders with customer visits, interviews, surveys, and other methods. Analyze voice of customer, business priorities, competitive landscape, technology landscape to develop priorities for product requirements. Develop solution concepts with engineering teams to meet the product requirements. Assist validation team in development of proper validation plan of new functionality. Commercialize product functionality with webinars, literature, in person and online training. Analyze and triage customer issues with technical support team. Types of products to be worked on: HVAC controller, user interface, and mobile applications applied to small “light commercial” buildings. HVAC controller, user interface and mobile applications applied to medium and large commercial buildings. HVAC multiple building management software and data analysis tool.

Requires good communication skills, both in written and oral presentations. Must be able to communicate effectively with audiences of all levels. Requires good computer skills. Must be able to use basic office applications, such as MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

TRAVEL: 10% of time for travel, 95% of which is within U.S. for training purposes.

Experience qualifications

3 years of experience in HVAC and/or building automation controls.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience must include building industry and/or facilities management experience with HVAC or BAS knowledge.

Educational requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related degree

Foreign equivalents accepted.
